Have you ever considered that writing can be a tool that helps you remember things better? That's not really a surprise to many of us, especially since so much emphasis is placed on taking notes or writing other important things down! Here's an interesting fact that I came across today!
Few people realize how fast memory fades. Studies on memory have shown that, without review, 47% of what a person has just learned is forgotten in the first twenty minutes and 62% is forgotten after the first day. (University of Texas at Austin).
Isn't that amazing, but also kind of scary?!
Our next set of blog topics will focus on how to be a better note-taker! So, let's do a little opening activity right now! How, why, or when do you take notes? Once you take them, what do you do with them? Share your opinions with us!

1. I take notes daily on a post-it pad.
2. This helps me daily, and weekly to keep me on task of my thing to do list.
3. Once the date of that service is up, I disregard the note.
4. The note taking for this course, is in a binder sorted by lessons, this way I can go back to those notes to review, and; or refresh my self.

I keep my notes handy just in case I need an everyday reminder of the important things I need to remember.

I take notes to remind me of payments, homework, and special activities. I use post-it pads and stick the note where I will see it; I purchase the neon colored ones and stick the note always in the same place. Last I put the date on the message I wrote so I know when to discard it.

Writing as a Memory Tool
I often times use pen and paper to take notes because it’s readily available to me. Once I take notes I place them in a folder so that I make have them later for review.
I understand that my method of taking notes in not the best option for me, because instead of attempting to write as I go. I should be reading and understanding the information.
Often times I miss a lot because I am trying to write it all down.
My handwriting is very bad, often times I cannot read it. And once I place my papers in the folders that are not assigned, I generally loose them to a stack of unnecessary papers.
With the technology that is available I think investing in a voice recorder and lap top is essential for me. With that I can record and review what was said, and use the lap top to store the notes with easy to use software like Microsoft Word, and OneNote.

I take notes occasionally when I want to remember things. I also take notes to create shopping lists and "to do lists."
Taking notes definitely helps me a lot because I do not forget the things I wanted to remember.
I take note and and draw it out to help me remember the things I am learning.
I take notes for information I neeed to retain. During a presentation, use shorthand, note main ideas, keywords, revise no more than a day or two later. Keeping things organized also helps.
I write everything down on a note pad, that i carry with me at all times.
I write down notes to keep me organized.
1. I'll write them in my planner.
2. Also if I don't have any paper i'll type it in my phone. Under memo pad.

Another great tool I use to remind me of things is my cell phone. I set up the alerts and I submit my appointments or things to do. In my contacts I save their emails; there home, work, and other numbers. I also use my cell phone to take notes. I can save it or I can text it to me or someone else. The best part of it is that I can include images.
