New Year's Resolutions (Part 1)

With 2009 coming to an end and 2010 about to begin, let's think about new year's resolutions. But let's start with something basic. What is a resolution? For more information, visit this link to Wikipedia.

Once you've read through what's there, come back to this blog & write about one fact that you found to be most interesting. Remember to focus on good writing, including correct capitalization, spelling, punctuation, and sentence structure.

I'd like to finish class and get back to work but, more importantly I'd like to lose 30 pounds. I walk about 5 times a week but seem to tone up but not lose like I want to, so this time I'm going to work out with exercise tapes by Billy Blanks, and I have some pilates tapes. See what they do for me.. Hopefully get this fat off!

The fact, I found is that this resolutions or commitments normally go into effect on New Year's Day. This very first day of the year people make wishes to change thing this New Year. But, the reality is some or none of them become true.

A New Year's resolution is a commitment that an individual makes. It is said that resolutions usually go into effect on New Year's Day. That makes me wonder where the history of making resolutions on New Year comes from.
I did some extra research and found out that the tradition of the New Year's Resolutions goes all the way back to 153 B.C. It's been a traditon in many countries for alot longer than I would have imagined. Very interesting!

What I found to be most interesting was the success rate. It is so easy to set goals and make resolutions but its not so easy to keep them.

For me a New Years resolution, is being or making a commitment to something in your life that you want to either change, or make better. I have been planning to make changes within myself for this New Year. Also, with this planning out things can surely cause you to take a look at other things that you want to add to your list.

I found that a New Year's resoulution is more about reflecting on the past year(s) and making a change for the better to be most interesting.

I learned not to make new year's resolution. One reason is that after a few days, I lose interest and it is back to my old ways. Sometimes I get laughed at or ridiculed. So for that reason, I keep my resolution in my heart. I it works, everybody will see the result and if not , Oh well, nobody knew.
