Tell me a story - November's edition

This blog hasn't had any fun, creative writing topics in a while, so let's change that now! We'll return to the "tell me a story" theme where I give you a few items that you must somehow weave into your story. Have fun with it and remember to focus on all of those points of good writing: correct spelling, capitalization, punctuation, sentence structure, etc.

Your story can take any direction that you want. It can be serious, funny, mysterious, or even based on real-life events!

Here are your items to use: turkey, 4 pencils, a digital camera, and a fishing pole.

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. Sometimes it can be a little hectic because my family is crazy, but this year was the best! My sister made her first turkey and it was amazing! I made the mashed potates, they were yummy as well! My mom has to harrass the kids to make a list for christmas so she handed me 4 pencils to make sure we all made a list that night. A lot of pictures were taken on all of our digital cameras, now I have to bug everyone to send them out! We can't forget dominic and his fishing pole rant! My nephew won't touch anything but loves to collect fish and bugs! He's so cute. My thanksgiving was more than I could have asked for.

I appreciate Thanksgiving because it allows me to spend time with family members that live near but never want to go out. My grandson decided to take the time to write a Christmas list. You mentioned four pencils, ha!, he just had a 24 pack of pencils and claims to only be able to find one. I was able to get a picure of my dad and his girlfriend on Thursday with my digital camera. I need the practice since it's a new camera. It's always nice to see them. This coming Sunday my husband is supposed to take the grandkids fishing. I hope he does so this three-year-old can stop walking around with her Dora fishing pole with the purple fished attached to the line. She is driving me crazy!

A Letter to Santa

It was the day after Thanksgiving and I was all stuffed, like the turkey we ate the day before. I sat down in the study room and prepared to write my letter to Santa, because I had been a good girl all year. Daddy, said Santa was going to bring me anything I wanted. He said because he had been a good boy all year long that he was going to ask for three items: a digital camera, a fishing pole, and a flat screen television. I was excited for him. I asked Santa in my letter to please give daddy what he wanted; because I don’t think adults can write to Santa. As I began to write my list the pencil broke. Mom said I should get extra pencils to keep by my side just in case another one broke. I got 4 pencils out of their case, because I really wanted to finish my letter to get it to Santa on time. So, daddy and I can both get what we want for Christmas this year.

Happy Holidays,
Bridgett

On Thanksgiving Day I decided to call a phone friend Jim, an ex-soldier who was injured and is now a shut-in due to the nature of his illness. He answered the phone so cheerfully, “Happy Thanksgiving gobble, gobble, gobble!” He informed me that he was enjoying his gobble, gobble, gobble, i.e. his turkey. He told me that they were taking pictures with a digital camera. By the way, he likes fishing and he keeps his fishing pole as a souvenir. When his granddaughter, Abigail was four years old, he bought her four jumbo colorful pencils. He promised to send me all of these pictures.

It is always a pleasure to speak with Jim as he is always so lively and upbeat, despite his medical condition. I was very happy I called Jim on Thanksgiving Day.

For Thanksgiving turkey is the main dish for dinner. After thanksgiving is over then it is time to make the list for christmas. On my list I have a digital camera for my sister, and a fishing pole for my brother. And for the kids I have a package of pencils 4 in the pack, along with crayons and coloring book.

This Thanksgiving was one to remember! It was a good thing I brought my digital camera, there were so many great memories to capture. Especially of Jayden trying figure out how to use his very first fishing pole and later that day we caught him writing in his sister's math book with 4 pencils. He's such a little turkey!

This time of the year is very special to me. It's not only about turkey and dressing, it's about family. It's the one day we forget about our busy lives and we just enjoy each other's company. We all gathered around the table and held hands while my brother blessed the food. Then the talking began. Everyone had something to say. I had 4 pencils and 4 tablets on the table. My sister's and I needed to start on our lists. The day after Thanksgiving is "Black Friday" and we needed to make preparations. Zina's list was the easiest. Her daughter wanted a digital camera and her husband wanted a fishing pole. We all made our lists and called it a night. We were up at 4 a.m. ready to shop. We got everything we wanted and more. Best of all I spent the whole day with my sisters.

Turkey I can do without, but not thanksgiving. I look forward to a delicious meal and spending time with family and friends.

My fishing pole, I reach for. I would rather have fish over turkey for thanksgiving.

Four pencils I handed out. Who is going to keep the score for this scrabble game we are about to play.

My digital camera I will not do without. These precious moments I have to capture.

Thanksgiving was a blast for me and my son and other family members,It was my son Isaiah's first Thanksgiving. Well to start things off when we arrived at my son's auntie house they wanted to take pictures of Isaiah with the digital camara. It was hard keeping him still long enough to take the pictures, but after six wrong pictures were taken finally they caught him and took a very good picture of him smiling. On another picture they got him eating turkey and dressing. He had it all over his face, what a funny sight that was. While Isaiah was hanging out and visiting with his family, me and Isaiah's dad went in the back yard where their is a lake and he taught me how to fish. At, first it was hard casting the fishing pole off, but I soon got the hang of it.I can't complain because I had a wonderful time with my son and his father, and inlaws.
