Vocabulary - Technology Terms (Part 3)

Here's the third and final part of vocabulary terms from http://www.tekmom.com/buzzwords/. Check out this list. Find one word that you're very familiar with and check to make sure that the meaning of the word shown on the site is the same as the meaning you think it has. Processor: The processor is the chip which is the brains of the computer. It is also know as the CPU (Central Processing Unit).

I wish my processor would be faster and more up to date.

Peripheral:A hardware device that is connected to a computer usually by a cable.

Sentence:"Does your computerhave a peripheral connected to it".

Initialize - Format a disk so it will hold information.

Monitor - Is the TV-like part of the computer that you look at to see information.

My monitor is not working properly.

I had to Initialize the disk for my class project.

Monitor was the word I was most familiar with. It meant exactly what I thought it meant. A hardware device that is connected to a computer by a cable is called a peripheral.
