Technology & Internet Terms (Part 4)

One of my new favorite sites is Common Craft because they have short animated video clips about different topics "in plain English," meaning that the explanations are simple & understandable. How many times have you tried to learn about something only to have the explanation confuse you even more? Well, that won't be the case with Common Craft!

When you visit that site, click the link to "Browse Videos" (on the left side). You'll then see some different categories listed (where the bottom one on the left is "technology"). Make sure that technology one is selected and check out some of the 15 topics listed! Each video is short, so if you only had 5 minutes, you can probably watch 2 or 3 of them!

Once you've watched 1 or more, come back here & report which one (or ones) you watched and what you thought!

I had the opportunity to watch two of the videos, the World Wide Web and Twitter In Plain English. They are short and sweet. I was not too familiar with Twitter but the video provided enough information to let me know of what Twitter entails and how to become a member of Twitterville.

I have a profile on Facebook, which is my way of staying in touch we family and friends. I recognize you have to be careful who you accept as a friend. You also have to be careful on the personal information you post on the site, as everyone can see it. So never write your address, phone number or other personal information.

I was able to watch two:
Twitter and Social Networking.
I know the news reporters always use twitter or facebook when they want a feedback on an issue. Both videos was short, but very formative. Also they both deals with meeting people.

I watched two videos: RSS in Plain English and Online Photo Sharing in Plain English. I find Online Photo Sharing intresting. I learned that photos can be uploaded and kept on line incase there is a fire and photos are distroyed. You can choose to keep photos private or make them public.

Today on "common craft", I really learn something new. I watched the "On line photo sharing in plain English". I did not know that you could keep your personal photos on the internet. What I find interesting is that you can keep them public or private. You learn something new every day.

I watched (2) blog videos. One on Social networking and the other about Twitter. The social network blog was pretty interesting because it explains how you may know someone that has hidden social abilities because that person you know could be your connection to finding a job, home, or partner.

Twitter's blog was interesting because if you are a techy person who text all the time and is constantly on your cell phone about what you are doing--then Twitter is for you. You can keep people updated about what you are doing and etc...

I really enjoyed visiting this site because the three minute videos are short, well explained and to the point. It's a convenient way of being informed. They have different categories of videos in different languages. I was only able to watch two about technology, but I'm sure I'll visit "Common Craft" again soon.

I watched the video on Wiki in Plain English. I did not know what a Wiki was and now, not only do I know what a Wiki is, but I know how it is used. I found it pretty interesting and very useful.
