Letter Writing (Part 6)

The last 5 blog topics have all given you links to different things covered at The Letter Writing Guide site. However, we focused only on a few things: apologies, requesting recommendations, letters of interest, interview thank you notes, and resignations.

Now it's your turn to visit the site and pick something that this blog did not focus on yet! Maybe you want to focus on how to write letters of appeal or maybe even love letters. Please visit The Letter Writing Guide and scroll through all of the various topics there. Pick one that this blog didn't cover, read through the material, and then come back here to tell us what you picked and what you learned about it!

Yes,I think the same as Mirlene.
I read about "Cover Letter" and the letter writing site is good. I have made "Cover Letters" before.

This is a Tip for everyone: "If you practice to write letters you get better on it."

This letter-writing site is an excellent source of information. Now I know how to write a Letter of Appeal or a Complaint Letter. Sometimes you go through situations when you will need to write one of these letters and you do not know which kind of legal words to use, but this site is a very good resource for writing this type of letters.

The section I went over was the cover letter. I learned that it should be 3 pages long with 3 distinct paragraphs. The first one should be the intro, highlight details about the position and the company. The second paragraph should go over your skills, your strenghts, your education, and your experience. Make sure that it is detailed and concise. The last paragraph shall be asking for an interview, thanking the person, and scheduling a follow up.

Writing an invitation letter serves the purpose of inviting a guest to a party, an event or a celebration.

Two tenses used within the invitation letter, the present and the future. The present tense conveys information about the event and the future tense ensures the guest is going to attend.

I learned that Complaint Letters should be short, to the point, and be addressed to the customer service department. After you identify the issue, state what you want to be done about it. Thank the person reading the letter and give a small compliment about the company's services or products. Don't forget your contact information. Everything is included in the three short paragraphs and it seems to me that it'll be more effective that if we get carried away.

Writing a Condolence Letter

A well written condolence letter helps fill the hole with friendship and love.

A condolence Letter should be friendly, short, and show support for the person grieving.

And the person writing the letter should avoid saying words like it was a "blessing" or "relief."

I chose this because of y fathers recent passing, and because shortly after a co worker's husband passing. I don't think we've covered this one yet. I'm glad its there.

The resignation letter is one that I was never familiar with but I can now say that is no longer the case. I learned how important it is that you keep your letter positive in order to maintain a good relationship with your employer no matter the circumstances.

I looked into writing a condolence letter because I find that it is a very sensitive subject and extremely difficult to do. By researching this, I've learned the appropriate format to use and most importantly, what not to say in a condolence letter. I wouldn't want to offend someone in the process. This guide has been very helpful to me in regards to writing all types of different letters. I will refer to this site if I ever need assistance in letter writing.

I have chosen the thank you letter. It is a simple letter but what is important in it is the sincere gratitude that you express. Just taking the time to write a thank you note and show appreciation goes a long way.

I found very interesting the letter of Appeal, who can help to rectify a situation, where unfair treatment was committed. Here, you state your side of the story using facts to support your cause to convince the reader to reconsider your case.

I picked an appeal letter since I had not done that before.

I found out that this type of letter allows you to state facts bout your side of a story in a convincing kind of a way about something that happened.

The topic that I picked is the Complaint Letter. I learned that it should be written in the business letter format and that it should be short and to the point to ensure that your letter will be read in its entirety. The first paragraph should identify what the issue is and any relevant information that you believe is important. The second paragraph should state what you would like done to resolve the issue and the last paragraph should thank the reader for their time in reading the letter and you can also throw in some compliments about something you liked about the company's product or service.

I picked love letter writing. I learned that if you placed a picture of your significant other infront of you while writing your love letter it will help inspire you. Also, listening to romantic music or reading romantic literature can also be used to inspire you while writing.
