Writing & Typing (Part 2)

When you type, your spacing is important. Without proper spacing, it can be hard for the reader to follow your thoughts and understand your breaks & pauses.

Please visit this site (http://www.geocities.com/clefevre.geo/rules.html) for more information about correct spacing when typing. Of everything listed there, I think the first two items are the most important (and also the ones that you'll need to use the most often).

* All sentences begin with capital letters. Type one space after each word, and after commas and semicolons.

* Type two spaces after each end of sentence punctuation mark (periods, question marks, exclamation points). Type two spaces after colons.

Read over the rest of those typing rules. Then tell me the answers to the following questions. First, did you know about those 2 rules listed above? Secondly, which of those other rules listed on that site did you find interesting?

Yes, I already knew those 2 typing rules.
I think it's a good idea to double space the term papers and essays because that makes them easier to read.

Yes, I already know abouts those two rules, it would helps to understand what is been typed.

Numbers in a column should always be aligned at the decimal, or the right aligned to each other. That what I find interesting.

I knew most of the rules that were addressed. The one that stands out to me and always has is the two spaces after the punctuation mark. I have been told to do it, but then marked off for it as well. I think it is one of those things that might vary such as some people put a comma and some don't before the and such as: peaches, apples, and bananas. I find academic work and personal use should use indents, while in business the indentation should not be utilized.

I did know about the 2 rules listed above.

Business documents such as letters should be single-spaced. At the end of each paragraph, hit the Enter key twice. This double-spaces between each paragraph. The ½ inch indent at the beginning of each paragraph is optional.

I found this rule most interesting. I wasn't aware that the indent was optional and you should double-space between paragraphs.

I did not know about the two spaces after the colon; I always entered one space. It is good to know.
I remember now indent is optional. When I was learning to type (40 years ago), the book showed to us different letter styles, and one of them was the Indent Style.

I knew about the 2 rules.

The other interesting rule was that, there are no spaces in hyphenated words and there are spaces after and before dashes.

No, I did not know about those typing rules, and secondly, I found the fact that the numbers in a column should always be aligned at the decimal, or right aligned to each other if no decimal is used to be very intresting.

I vaguely knew some rules. But I didn't know that you have to leave two spaces after period, question mark and exclamation. The other one is there is no space in hyphenated words. It is good to know.

I am already familiar with rules one and two. I find it interesting that general text such as essays, reports and term papers should be double-spaced.

I did not know about the first two rules. I was really surprised. The other rule I found interesting was the one about the space before the open and close parenthesis.

Yes, I already Knew about those two rules.I found interesting that most text should be aligned at the left margin, and business letters should be "Single Space," the means number of lines between text; and double spaces after each paragraph. Also, there are spaces before and after dashes.

Yes, I did know about those two typing rules. The typing tip that I find interesting is that numbers in a column should always be aligned at the decimal, or right aligned to each other if no decimal is used.

I did know about capitalizing the first letter in the first word that starts the paragragh in a sentence. I did not know about the double spacing after the sentences.
I have learned alot about writting letters, and using the right puntuations.
