Letter Writing (Part 2)

This letter writing site (http://www.letterwritingguide.com/) has some great resources, so let's continue our exploration of different types of letters.

Many times, you may want (or need) a letter of recommendation. This could be to help you out in the search for new (or better) employment, to start or grow a personal business, to include with a school application, or just to put in your own personal file for future reference.

Check out this link (http://www.letterwritingguide.com/requestingrecommendation.htm). Once you've read through what's there, be sure to click the link at the bottom to look at a sample letter of recommendation.

What did you find to be most important? Have you ever had to ask for a letter of recommendation? If so, from whom did you request it? If not, do you ever see yourself having to ask for one in the future?

The most important point that I found in the letter of recommendation is that you should assist the writer with your plans for the future, your strengths, experiences and other qualities you want to be presented in the letter. Also, you should provide the writer with a stamped and addressed envelope.

I have never had to ask for a letter of recommendation. However, I will be asking for one when I complete my job shadow at the city of Miramar.

I find it most important that you assist the person writing the recomendation letter. Letting them know about the experience, strengths, and qualities you'd like to have included in the letter, will help you get the most out of the letter that you desire. More importantly, that when doing so, you're completly honest.

I've had to ask for a letter of recomendation for school and employment in the past. But never assisted them in the process. This information was very helpful for me. In the future, I will use this advice.

What I find to be important in the letter writing is to assist the writer with as much material as necessary. Also, with your resume and a list of achievments will make it easier on the writer. You may also want to give him/her any information that will help with the letter including your plans for the future, your strengths, experiences and other qualities you want to be presented in the letter.

I did asked for a letter of recommendation when I left my previous job and move to Florida.

Right now one of my daughters needs 2 letters of recommendation from her teachers to apply for college. I also think the most important point I have learned is to provide them with some information they might not be aware of about her. Such as extracurricular activities and if she belongs to any organizations. And of course, my daughter will thank both of the teachers for being so kind to help her.

The person who provide your letter of recommendation must know you well, example: Your professional experience, what kind of employee you are, your honesty as a person, how many years you have been in the industry you are applying for, etc. All these details about you are very important for the person to write a nice letter.
I always include at least one letter of recommendation with my resume (usually from my previous supervisor, and believe me, it works).

In order to write a complete recommendation, the person giving you this recommendation has to be knowledgeable about your abilities, accomplishments, and strengths.
I had a letter of recommendation when I applied a job.

What I find to be most important about a letter of recommendation is that by providing detailed information about ones character, skills, ability, accomplishments, goals, and etc. It can provide insight on helping the person or company requesting your letter of recommendation in seeing potentials and qualities you posses.
I have in the pass had to provide a letter of recommendation from a previous employer to a companying I was seeking employment with. I was fortunate to have had already obtained the letter prior to leaving my previous employer.

I found that the most important part of a letter of recommendation is the person you choose to write it for you. I have never asked anyone for a letter but if I did it would have to be some one close, someone who knows my character personally. I am pretty sure I will need that letter one day and when the time comes I know just who to ask.

I believe that when Mr. Ziggad mentioned Rose's ability to learn new skills quickly was the most important thing. Simply because it usually means to a potential employer less time training, and more time working.

No, I have never had to request a letter of recommendation. Being that I am very new to the workforce, and started off at entry level.

I do see myself requesting a letter of recommendation in the future. So, to prepare myself now I work hard and remain reliable for my current employers. Which will make it easier to ask for a letter of recommendations in the future and get a positive response.

I read the article and what I found interesting is that we should resist the urge to embellish our letter with false informations. I had a letter of recommendation once from my doctor for my pharmacy technician diploma. It did not go in such details. I guess times have really changed.

I have learned that it is very important to get a letter of recommendation from a previous employer, teacher, pastor etc. It is important to have a letter of recommendation before you need one. It is also important to be honest and precise about your experiences. Yes, i had to ask for one. It was beautifully written. Verna B.

I believe that it is most important to provide the writer with as much information as possible about yourself, including your plans for the future and a copy of your resume.

I have asked my past employer for a letter of recommendation.

I found that asking the writer before hand to write the letter in advance because sometimes you don't think about it until it's too late.

I do see myself asking for a letter of recommendation in the near future because I expect a transition in employment.

What I found most important was to ask for a letter of recommendation whenever you leave a job. Also, to let the writer know of any qualities you want to be presented in the letter, but staying honest. I have never asked for a letter of recommendation. I do plan to ask former employers for recommendation letters so I can add them to a folder for previous job opportunities.

What I found to be most important is who the letter is from. I think a current or former employer's recommendation is very credible. I found it interesting that when someone is writing a letter of recommendation for you that you should assist them with information about yourself.

I have never had to ask for a letter of recommendation but I will when I complete this class.

The most important items were: to provide the writer with your resume, list of achievements, and other qualities. Send thank you note to writer, or say thank you on the phone or in person.

I have requested a letter of recommendation from my previous boss, and I will be requesting one in the near future.

I have asked for recommendation letters many times before. In high school for college, when I left a job,for a volunteer program that needed to check character, and an internship for my major in college.

Even though I knew the people I was asking well, one had me write me own! Another asked for a resume, and one had me sit with them, while another did it completely on their own and I never knew what they wrote.

I know and learned from the site to give the person plenty of time, include all necessary forms they may need, provide an envelope, and send a thank you letter. For me I have used some of the same references more than once and having this, especially following up with a thank you card, has helped me secure them for future times.
