This isn't a too common expression, but I have heard it before.

I heard "rack your brain" before, but I misunderstand it. Now, I know it means torture.

I have heard and used that expression. Everytime I cannot figure out how to do something. I would rack my brain, meaning thinking very hard.

It is good to know the words racking, or wracking has a total different meaning.

This is new word for me. I always say: Mental harrasment, when I think I have been using my brain too much, and I can feel all the stress in my brain. Now I know I can use this new word (racking my brain).
